Appointments and Scheduling

In order to ensure quality orthodontic care, it is imperative that both parents and patients understand the manner in which we schedule your appointments. We make it a top priority to value both you and your time. That’s why we make every effort to stay on or ahead of schedule. Inconveniencing your work schedule or interrupting your studies as infrequently as possible is very important to our entire office. Please understand that it is unavoidable that some day-time appointments will be necessary. We provide you with school/work excuses for scheduled orthodontic appointments.

We want you to know that our team will work hard to provide the finest orthodontic care in the most convenient scheduling system possible for you and/or your child.

New patient consultations and discussions

These appointments can take up to an hour and are done in the mornings. This is so your orthodontist and treatment coordinator have plenty of time to perform a thorough assessment, take clinical records and discuss your personalised treatment plan.

Long appointments, banding and bonding

These are more detailed and technique-sensitive appointments. Therefore, these appointments will be scheduled during our quieter morning and early afternoon hours.

Repairs for items such as loose bands or brackets, broken arch wires or ties/broken appliances or retainers are best scheduled between 9am and 3pm, since these are longer visits.  Appointments before or after these time are generally booked between our pre-scheduled appointments. As they are ‘squeezed in’, there is a high chance you may need to wait a few minutes until we have a clinician available to see you.

Emergencies such as Pain, swelling, or bleeding usually results from trauma to the face or mouth. These patients will be seen as soon as possible and appropriate care given or referred to another specialist or your dentist for treatment.

We realise that occasionally unforeseen circumstances arise which necessitate a change in appointments or cause you to overlook an appointment. We will do our best to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible to avoid a delay in treatment; however it may become necessary to reschedule an afternoon appointment to a mid-day or morning appointment. Missed appointments and numerous appointment changes will inevitably result in an extension of your treatment time.

Thank you for understanding.
